2023 Phoenix Suns Player Review: Devin Booker elevated his game to an elite level - Bright Side Of The Sun

The biggest names on Team USA during the 2024 Olympics were undoubtedly LeBron James and Steph Curry.

Still, it wasn’t just that dynamic duo that contributed to America’s victory; everyone had a role to play.

Devin Booker, for example, had to step up defensively on the perimeter and be more of a knockdown shooter.

He rose to that challenge, being a solid defender while averaging 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists and shooting 56.5% from deep.

His play was so stellar that head coach Steve Kerr commended him after the gold medal win against France, calling him the “unsung MVP” of the team via Ben Goliver of the Washington Post.

A reflective Booker spoke about the experience playing with LeBron and Steph and how it compared to the other times he played for Team USA after their final game in Paris via Marc J. Spears of Andscape.

“This experience was totally different from the first one. Not taking anything away from that, but the atmosphere, obviously Stephen, LeBron joining us, this experience is going up there with any other experience in my lifetime.”

Booker has the first-hand experience to comment on the difference between the 2024 and 2020 teams, but even from watching them play, you could tell the energy from the crowd and the levels of greatness achieved were day and night.

It’s a testament to Booker’s commitment to winning that he could take a reduced role, excel in it and essentially not get in the way of legends like Steph and LeBron.

Both were in their prime during these Olympics, with Steph doing his “night, night” celebration against the French and LeBron playing well enough to earn the Olympics MVP award.

This is likely the best team Booker will ever be associated with, but given that he’s 27 years old, he’ll likely have a chance to appear on more Olympic teams.

Maybe one of those could become as legendary as pairing up with LeBron and Steph, but it’s unlikely. This was a once-in-a-lifetime moment and Booker made the most of it and helped secure another gold medal for the red, white and blue.
