ITV bosses are said to have made sure to get Holly Willoughby to return to screens once again with Stephen Mulhern.

The TV presenter, 43, announced her exit from This Morning last October. She took a break from all work in the wake of Gavin Plumb’s arrest, which led to the 37-year-old’s conviction for soliciting murder and inciting rape and kidnap. Holly decided to make a return to screens for Dancing On Ice at the start of this year as she presented alongside Stephen.

She has slowly been returning to the spotlight and has even joined Bear Grylls on a new show for Netflix. Earlier this month, the TV star confirmed she will be part of the reboot of the iconic 90s TV show, You Bet!. Holly and Stephen have worked together many times before and fronted children’s TV programme Ministry Of Mayhem in the early 00s.

Catchphrase host Stephen took over from Phillip Schofield on Dancing On Ice when he quit his roles at ITV last spring. You Bet! was originally hosted by Bruce Forsyth and hasn’t been on our television screens in almost three decades. Holly was deemed as the “perfect person” to front the revival of the show.

“Her partnership with Stephen on Dancing On Ice earlier this year proved they have perfect chemistry and bosses wanted them back on screen,” a source told the Sun. “It is wholesome family fun and with Holly at the helm with Stephen, ITV think they are onto a ratings winner.”

Matthew Kelly was the longest You Bet! host as Darren Day replaced him in the show’s final two years. The reboot will still feature “epic challenges, mind-blowing feats, big-name celebrities and nail-biting suspense,” but will have an ‘updated format’. Holly explained of her new role: “I’m so excited to be part of this iconic game show with the fabulous Stephen Mulhern. I’m looking forward to seeing the astonishing skills on show from the challengers and which of our celebrity panellists can come out on top.”

Stephen added: “I loved You Bet! as a kid, so I’m very excited to be hosting this with the wonderful Holly Willoughby. From the big and spectacular to the unique and unexpected, I can’t wait to see what extraordinary skills the challengers have up their sleeves.” The show had celebrities betting on the ability of members of the public to achieve challenges and stunts within a limited amount of time.

The total number of points achieved by the stairs would be converted into pounds and donated to a chosen charity. ITV’s Head of Entertainment Commissioning, Katie Rawcliffe, said: “You Bet! is part of a stellar entertainment lineup for ITV and ITVX this Autumn, and we are thrilled to have Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern at the helm. It’s great to be able to bring back this legendary game show alongside the likes of returning entertainment favourites I’m A Celeb…, The Voice and the NTAs, plus brand-new series Password, Romesh Ranganathan’s Parents’ Evening, and Dress the Nation.”
