The NBA community was recently shaken when Draya Michele, girlfriend of 22-year-old Houston Rockets star Jalen Green, announced the news of her pregnancy. She was criticized a lot and many even called her a “predator” for trying to use a man much younger than herself.

Many people don’t know much about Draya apart from her relationship with Jalen. She is so more than just a girlfriend of a young NBA star.

Who is Jalen Green’s girlfriend Draya Michele?

Draya Michele is a successful entrepreneur, model, and actress who has worked in quite a few movies and some reality TV shows. She came into the public much before her relationship with Jalen Green. The credit of his initial popularity can be credited to the famous pop singer and entertainer Chris Brown. Draya dated the singer for some time and came to public attention during her relationship with him.

Later on in 2011, she made it to the freshman cast of VH1‘s reality TV series Basketball Wives LA. In the same year, she also made her debut as an actress working in the television show One’s Will to Love alongside Marques Houston and Keshia Knight-Pulliam. Draya Michele was a part of the VH1’s reality TV series until the very end of the show in 2015. She also played a supporting role in Billie Woodruff’s movie “The Perfect Match.”

Jalen and Michele were first spotted together in Los Angeles in the summer of 2023. They were together at a party and were later seen near the Sugar Fish Spot. Rumors started to circulate that the two were dating.

However, it was not confirmed at the time. A year later rumors about Draya being pregnant with Jalen’s baby started circulating, but the couple remained silent until the 39-year-old revealed it on Women’s Day.

Draya had already made a name for herself before dating Jalen Green. After her acting projects, she delved into the modeling industry working with several top brands. She also became an entrepreneur and started her line of clothing and fashionwear. Michele owns a swimwear clothing line- Mint Swim and two lifestyle and fashion clothing lines- Fine Ass Girls and Beige & Coco.

Draya responds to being called a “Predator”

Draya Michele’s pregnancy announcement did not go the way she would have expected it to. The Basketball Wives of LA star received great backlash and criticism from the public. The people brought forward the fact that Draya is almost the same age as Jalen’s mother and was accused of using the Houston Rockets star for his money and fame. Michele stayed silent on all of the noise at first but has now responded.

She posted an inspirational quote on her Instagram story that indirectly responds to the current public opinion surrounding her.


“Get comfortable in being misunderstood. Only a fraction of people can truly grab your essence. You’re not on anyone else’s timeline of comprehension. Also, it is none of your business how others choose to perceive you. Most high above see you clearly, let that be enough”, posted Draya. She highlighted that it is okay to be misunderstood and that one should not bother clearing out the public perception of them because God is watching and that itself is enough.
