‘F*** you, New York. ‘You’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago.’ – Jake Paul’s controversial statement when confronting Iron Mike has caused the boxing community to condemn

Jake Paul recently shed light on the reasoning behind the shorter two-minute rounds in his highly anticipated bout with boxing legend Mike Tyson. During a heated pre-fight press conference in New York, the 27-year-old YouTuber revealed that it was Tyson, the former world heavyweight champion, who specifically requested eight rounds of two minutes each for their upcoming fight.

Tensions flared during the conference, with Paul comparing himself to Muhammad Ali before being shoved by Tyson. This confrontation followed an earlier delay in the fight, which was postponed after Tyson experienced an ulcer flare-up. However, Tyson now insists he’s back in good shape for their November 15 showdown, warning Paul with a blunt message: “Be in shape, be in good shape because your health depends on it.”

Paul was quick to grab the mic and fire back at the boxing icon, saying, “You’re the one that wanted eight, two-minute rounds,” exposing Tyson’s demand for the shorter rounds. Paul also boldly suggested extending the round length, saying, “Want to make it eight or threes? Don’t talk to me about shape.”

Tyson’s calm reply to Paul’s taunts was simple: “Be careful.” But Paul wasn’t backing down, accusing Tyson of “s*** talking” and declaring, “I’ll do whatever, wherever, whenever—it’s all talk.”

Their fight, set to be streamed exclusively on Netflix, will feature another significant rule change. In addition to the shortened round durations, Paul and Tyson will be wearing 14oz gloves instead of the standard 10oz gloves typically used in professional boxing. The bout is sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations under a revised rule set.

Despite the criticism and unconventional nature of the fight, Tyson received a warm welcome at Fanatics Fest NYC, while Paul faced a far less enthusiastic reception. Boos and offensive chants from the crowd led to an angry outburst from Paul, who shouted, “F*** you, New York. You’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago.”

With the fight just around the corner, the drama between Paul and Tyson continues to build, leaving fans eager to see how this clash will play out on November 15.
