Heading into The Voice finale, Reba McEntire is ready for a break, and what better way to celebrate her amazing run on the show than the holidays?
The country legend and her partner Rex Linn are ready to celebrate it together again. The two already have some relatable traditions to uphold. The Queen of Country isn’t heading to any tropical destination with her Happy’s Place costar but is rather doing something more low-key this year.
“Rex and I will go to the movies,” McEntire shared with E! News. “We have our Christmas on Christmas Eve, and he likes to go see movies, so we’ll do that first thing in the morning before the crowds hit the theaters, Then we’ll come back and we’ll have our meals.”
Jokingly admitting to having more than just one special meal that day, the 66-year-old stated, “You noticed I said ‘meals,’ because we’ll have lunch and supper and probably a midnight snack.” She continued, “That will be our tradition.”
When asked which movie the two will be sitting down to watch, McEntire quickly said, “The Fire Inside,” which proves that the couple had previously discussed this.
The film tells the story of Olympic winner Claressa “T-Rex” Shields and her journey to the 2012 London Olympics. It is set to be released on December 25. The singer will opt for a story highlighting a legendary athlete over the biography of fellow music icon, Bob Dylan, in A Complete Unknown.
McEntire and Linn first met each other on the set of The Gambler in 1991. Not developing a romantic connection until 2020, she explained that they love working together. They are currently costars on Happy’s Place. “We’re used to working together and also being together as partners and buddies and lovers. It just works out.” She added some advice, “You better like ’em—all the time,” Reba said with a laugh. “It’s 24/7, so I do like him a lot.”
