Ryan Seacrest Makes Vulnerable Admission About Hosting ‘Wheel of Fortune’
Ryan Seacrest had some big shoes to fill after taking over Pat Sajak’s hosting duties on Wheel of Fortune.
And nobody seems to be more aware of that fact than Seacrest, as evidenced by his recent heartfelt confession to his WoF colleagues.
On Dec. 20, the American Idol host posted a series of photos and videos from the Wheel of Fortune holiday lunch, teasing in the caption that it was combining “two of my favorite words: ‘holiday’ and ‘lunch’” before writing “It’s the most wonderful time of the year with the most wonderful staff & crew @wheeloffortune.”
Among the pictures of the feast and a video of him and co-host Vanna White trying to decide what they were going to nosh on from the decadent spread, there was also a sweet video of Seacrest speaking candidly to the staff and crew of the popular game show.

Seacrest, whose first WoF episode aired back in September, told the gathering that he “just wanted to say thank you for welcoming me to this family.” He then pointed to Maggie Sajak, Pat’s daughter and Wheel of Fortune social media correspondent, and said “to follow in the footsteps of her father, who is a legend, who is incredible at what he does,” prompting the group to break into applause as Seacrest gushed about what Sajak “and Vanna built over the years.”
The radio host then admitted that he “was scared to death. I was nervous about how this would go. Nervous about walking into something that is so successful, and it’s the most exciting time I’ve ever had at work, doing a job.”
“I hope it shows,” he continued. “I’m so grateful for the army that puts this show, the number one show on television, on the air.”
Fans chimed in on the comments to wish Seacrest and his Wheel of Fortune colleagues a happy holiday season, including a former contestant. “I cannot say enough about everyone and the staff at Sony Studios. Ryan, Vanna, Maggie, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. You all made a very nervous Wheel of Fortune contestant, stay as calm as I could, and I was able to walk away a BIG winner! Thank you all again for a once in a lifetime experience! May God bless you all this Christmas season and always!!! 🎄🙏🏻🥰,” she wrote.
