Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has told her co-host to “put it away” as he sounded off live on-air.
The ITV morning show returned to our screens once again on Thursday (June 13) to cover the latest news that was hitting the headlines. Kate, 56, was at the helm of the show, and was joined by regular co-host Ed Balls.
As the show got underway, one story in particular piqued Ed’s attention as tensions begin to build ahead of Euro 2024. According to the organisers, the tournament may remove counterfeit goods from the stadiums, and those wearing fake goods could be fined by local police.
This particularly set Ed off, as he fumed that many people would not be able to afford the cost of a genuine football shirt, which can reach into the hundreds. Many fans echoed the sentiment, but pointed out that they would rather not wear a counterfeit good.

Later on in the show, the pair revisited the story and read out some viewer comments. It was then that Ed made his case, explaining that in the UK owning a counterfeit good does not make someone liable for a fine – whereas in Germany it is.
“In Germany, because of their unfair, particular trademarking rules – it’s not just the selling but it’s also just the possession,” he said. “So German rules on trademarks mean police can do spot checks on tourists and slap them with a fine of up to £4,000 if you are wearing a counterfeit top!”
Kate added that Ed believed people should be allowed to wear a counterfeit top, as the cost of the shirts can be so expensive it can price fans out of supporting their favourites. Reading out some of their comments, Kate explained how some fans believe it is wrong to circulate criminal money, whilst others just wanted to celebrate their team.As the hosting duo slowly moved away from the discussion, Kate offered a simple piece of advice to her co-host. “Put away your fake shirt, Ed. Put it away, put it away,” she said softly.
Ed, however, immediately hit back, bringing up Kate’s rather striking top that she was wearing on the show that morning. “I like your top, is it genuine?” he pondered.
This left Kate chuckling: “It’s genuine-ly non-designer; probably not. It’s genuine though, it’s genuine!”
She was then left red-faced as she continued on: “It’s a lovely one as probably our very talented fashion person decided. Now look, you’re getting me into all kinds of trouble,” she added before hastily trying to move on with the conversation as the show pushed on towards a commercial break.
