Morning TV viewers were cringing after an awkward cooking segment, forcing Joel Dommett to apologise on live TV.

Wednesday’s episode of This Morning (August 21, 2024) saw a hilarious mishap when Celebrity MasterChef judge John Torode served hosts Rochelle Humes and Joel Dommett a cheesecake.

The Masked Singer star was unable to hide his eagerness for the sweet dish, and attempted to take a bite but ended up comically dropping it back onto the plate from his mouth. Rochelle couldn’t contain her reaction and exclaimed: “Oh my gosh! What a way to ruin it.”

A flustered Joel awkwardly responded: “I’m so sorry! That is unbelievable.” While both men offered Rochelle a taste, she declined due to the incident, saying: “I wanted some but there’s a little bit of Joel drool!”

Joel, visibly embarrassed, profusely apologised: “I’m so sorry! ” Despite Rochelle’s attempt to steer the show towards what was next, viewers had strong reactions to the on-air cheesecake disaster, reports the Express. Fans didn’t hesitate to voice their disapproval online about Joel’s on-camera faux pas, with some expressing their disgust quite vocally.

On X, otherwise known as Twitter, however, the commentary flew fast and furious, with one person posting: “He just dropped that food back on that cheesecake?? ” Another tweet read: “Oh f***ing hell! Joel is absolutely disgusting,” while a third shared a vomiting emoji to sum up their feelings saying: “Gross.”

An additional viewer remarked they were glad to have missed Joel’s unpleasantness during the cooking segment. One disgruntled TV fan took to the social media platform, stating: “My 5-year-old grandson has better eating manners than Joel.” Another chimed in with: “Joel obviously didn’t want to share the cheesecake.”

The pair of presenters have taken the helm of the breakfast programme as regular hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard enjoy an extended break from the show, much like Susanna Reid or even Laura Tobin, who announced earlier this week that she was stepping back from Good Morning Britain.

Laura broke the news as Kate Garraway confessed she believes summer could be over, before it properly began, and she admitted she didn’t mind as she’s going somewhere sunny. Kate first said: “I was trying to wear everything summery quickly before it has to go back in the suitcase under the bed.”

The meteorologist replied: “You know what Kate? I actually don’t care because I’m going on holiday tomorrow”, leaving Kate astonished by her blunt response.
